Welcome THE NEW PRESIDENT OF THE DENVER BAR ASSOCIATION
Annie Martinez!
By Nicoal Sperrazza, Immediate past President
I’m thrilled and honored to have the privilege of introducing your 2024-2025 President of the Denver Bar Association, Annie Martínez. Over the past few years, I have witnessed Annie’s passion, dedication, and sheer intellect. I have worked with them closely on the restructure of the DBA, navigating difficult situations surrounding our bar, and many other things – including on this very relaunch of The Docket.
Annie is a first-generation Cuban American from Hialeah, Florida. They graduated from law school in 2014, and shortly thereafter, moved to Colorado to practice law. Annie was one of the youngest presidents of the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association and was honored with the Outstanding Young Hispanic Attorney award in 2019, named in Up & Coming Lawyers in 2020, DBA Young Lawyer of the Year in 2022. In addition to their law degree, Annie is completing a doctorate in public policy at West Chester University, which speaks to her dedication to activism for justice and social change. After running their own law firm and practicing as a court-appointed Counsel across the state, Annie is currently the Litigation Director at the Colorado Center of Law and Policy.
But beyond their credentials lies an impassioned advocate for change, a dedication to serving the legal community AND the community at large, and a commitment to the greater good. I can say wholeheartedly that getting to know Annie these past few years has been one of the greatest gifts of bar leadership for me. Annie has served as a sounding board for challenges, a supporter for change, and, at times, a truthful colleague facing some tough conversations.
I’m proud to know Annie and I’m proud to have them serve as the 132nd President of the Denver Bar Association. I know they have a whole lot of good on the agenda and an abundance of energy to get the job done.
I hope you will all join me in welcoming them with open arms!
