When did you know you wanted to be a lawyer? I knew I wanted to be a lawyer when I was in high school. I was always civic minded and politically engaged and I think those traits coupled with a desire to help marginalized populations led me to this career.
What is a book that you feel everyone should read? Rage of Innocence: How America Criminalizes Black Youth
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?I like to spend my free time with my son and our ball python Kyle.

When did you know you wanted to be a lawyer? I knew I wanted to be a lawyer when I was a kid. My adopted parents are both lawyers, and I loved hearing them talk about their work. I had the chance to see my dad appear in court several times when I was a kid, and it seemed so thrilling. That experience inspired me to follow in their footsteps and pursue a career in law.
What is a book that you feel everyone should read? Everyone should read Beyond Religion by the Dalai Lama. He lays out a framework for morality beyond religion, providing basic tenets we should all be able to live by regardless of our religious or spiritual background. It’s a thought-provoking and inspiring read that encourages a more compassionate and ethical approach to life
What do you enjoy doing in your free time? In my free time, I love playing with my children, doing absolutely nothing with my family, and playing pickleball. These activities help me relax, stay active, and enjoy quality time with my loved ones.

What is a book that you feel everyone should read? “The Body Keeps the Score” by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D. about the impact of traumatic stress and its impact on society;
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?Motorcycling, yoga, and spending time with my dogs.

When did you know you wanted to be a lawyer? Around college graduation, when I decided that I didn’t want to become a college professor.
What is a book that you feel everyone should read? Practical Gods by Carl Dennis.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Spending time with my wife and son, playing tennis.

When did you know you wanted to be a lawyer? After graduating from college, I got a job as a legal assistant at the public defender’s office. I loved the work, but I was making very little money. After spending a lot of time with the attorneys there, I thought, “hey, I can do what they do!” I decided that law school was an investment in, and a path to, my financial stability.
What is a book that you feel everyone should read? Indian Killer by Sherman Alexie. It is a beautifully written book about being an Indigenous child in a non-Indigenous home, and the trauma that accompanied those adoptions prior to the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Yoga; cooking with my spouse; hiking with my dog; starting many, many books at once based on errant thoughts and new interests.

When did you know you wanted to be a lawyer? I don’t know when I first wanted to be a lawyer, but when I wrote my parents a formal letter in Kindergarten asking them to call me “Josh” and not “Joshua,” it was a pretty good indicator of the path I would pursue.
What is a book that you feel everyone should read? Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. It is The Great American Novel; and we named our cats after the main characters, Gus and Woodrow.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time? Camping, concerts, running, and photography.
