1. Where did you go to Law School?

University of Wyoming College of Law

2. Where do you work?

White and Steele, P.C.

3. Why did you become a lawyer?

I made the decision to pursue law school shortly after my oldest was born. We were living in South Korea at the time where I was teaching English at a university. I had fond memories of growing up in Colorado and hoped that my children could share my experiences. I always enjoyed logic, writing, and language such that law school seemed like it would be a good fit. Attorneys can work in a variety of professions and environments. The work flexibility allows for my family to spend time in Colorado and in South Korea which is where my wife is from and where our kids were born.

4. Are you currently binge watching any shows?

Moving (K-drama).

5. How do you de-stress?

Music, reading, sports and Korean food.

6. If you weren’t a lawyer, what would you be?

A teacher. My teaching experience abroad was incredibly rewarding and exciting. I hope that my path forward allows me to return to the classroom at some point.

7. What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Most of us were probably told in law school that if you don’t understand something, it is likely that someone else doesn’t either. Asking questions shows that you are listening. As a teacher, I enjoyed nothing more than a class full of questions.

8. What is your favorite law school memory?

Taking a selfie at the Colorado/Wyoming border after my last exam as a 3L. I commuted to law school in Laramie, Wyoming from Colorado. The drive was a challenge to say the least. That photo reminds me of the obstacles I faced and how they were overcome.

9. Where have you lived?

I grew up in Loveland, but moved to Daegu, South Korea after my undergraduate. I taught English in South Korea for ten years before starting law school.

10. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy playing drums in rock bands, reading and spending time with my family of four.
